I would happily pay huge sums for this TV channel -
Shahrukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Amir Khan, Shahid Kapoor ... these along with Bheegi billi and other characters of 9Xm ... singing, dancing and doing stuff that teaches fundamentals of colours, counting, alphabets, size, animals etc etc
My Three and a half year old loves all these characters ... wants us play their songs on the comp ... likes to watch Bheegi Billi... but has totally revolted against learning the regular stuff that is expected from kids his age.

Dead in the news
Michael Jackson .. mai-ka-lal jai-kisan (in desi jokes) ... Mikaeel ... is dead ... he died a few days back ... the whole world knew MJ ... most know about his death (its all over the media) ... many are sad ... he might even be remembered by a generation or two ...
I didn't know Michael ... and am sort of indifferent to his death ... it just makes me wonder why some immensely successful people face multiple troubles in their post-success lives ...
Hidden somewhere in the papers was news of another death ...
http://www.expressindia.com/latest-news/renowned-educationist-anil-wilson-passes-away/481449/
An ex-principal of St Stephens, New Delhi had passed away ... some people people knew Anil Wilson ... most of them would be sad .... he would also be remembered by a generation or two ...
Unlike MJ's case I am not indifferent to Anil' death ....I had shared a very brief period of my life with Anil .... all of about 2 hours... when we sat in the same room.... along with 5-6 other people ... all loaded with radioactive glucose... in AIIMS ... ... All of us were in for a PET scan on 16 Oct 08 ... and though he was the known educationist ... it was I who was giving all the gyan... I was more experienced ... I had dealt with cancer for longer .... and was trying to build up some positive vibes in an otherwise gloomy room ...
anyways ...
I had wished him luck and said goodbye when I left ...
goodbye again dude ...
peace to all

" ...The bench also said that public interest was predominant and it required that patients get access to cheap cancer medicines in the country ..."
The Patients vs Patents battle continues ...
I personally think that our society has chosen a flawed model for supporting and promoting innovation and growth in area of lifesaving drugs.

Silent Observer
History, society, economics and communication
they are the themes of this post, this rumination
And why ??..... Because ...
Now is the time to look at these four -
History's in making, like never before
Prejudice's resurgent, hatred is it's core
Profits are moving from shore to shore
and communication ???
cause the net and the bloggers are changing the game
and readers and writers are one and the same
the youtube generation is wielding the mike
professional reporters can go take a hike
I watch from a distance, tune into the climes
A silent observer, I learn with the times
I hope to be smarter and wiser sometimes
-then pour all my thinking in beautiful rhymes

Downers
-- It is not a fair world
-- Markets have ugly distortions and frictions which mar their theoretical beauty
-- The system sure works - only hitch is - it doesn't work for you

no SCANdal here - I am clean (updated)
Well... the PET scan results are out ... This was the second PET after treatment got over ... An unassuming pre-printed report says that things are fine

Am posting some of the PET Scan pictures for the curious ones who have never seen such images

Here's the latest update from my Hematologist Dr Auro Viswabandya
I had a loook at PET scan and it appears absolutely fine.
Your blood reports are normal and no intervention is required at present.
You can definitely get prepared for half marathon run in November 2008 ! Absolutely no problem.
For some people, the weakness / tiredness remains for a longer time post chemo and radiotherapy. Try to ignore that and get back to your normal schedule. Should be alright.
It will be better to have a repeat PET after 6 months and if everything is fine, then the next PET can be after 1 year.
